Chat
/chat is the first thing you see in the EnClaw sidebar — a place to talk directly with an AI model, with your conversations organised into projects. It's the full web experience: type a request, watch the response stream in live, and pick any past conversation back up exactly where you left it.
- Sign in at your organisation's EnClaw address (your admin will have shared it — the product home is https://enclaw.com).
- Open Chat, hit New chat, and type your request. The response streams in as it's written, so you can see the work happening rather than staring at a spinner.
Projects — folders with a brain
The left rail groups your conversations into projects:
- All Chats holds every conversation you haven't filed into a project, with a count of the unfiled ones.
- Projects are collapsible groups, each with a name, a colour, and its own chats. The most recent chats in a project sit directly underneath it for one-click access.
Creating a project takes seconds: click the new-project button at the top of the rail, type a name, pick a colour, press Create.
What makes a project more than a folder is its context. Hover a project and choose the cog (Edit project context) to give it a description, a system prompt, files, and memories — and every chat inside that project automatically inherits all of it. Put the client brief and the style guide on the project once, and every conversation in it starts pre-briefed.
The other hover actions are what you'd expect: Rename changes the name, and Delete removes the project after a confirmation — its conversations aren't lost, they simply move back to All Chats.
Your conversation list
The main pane lists the conversations for whatever you've selected (All Chats or a project), newest first. Each row shows the conversation's title, the model it last used, and when it was last touched. From a row you can:
- Open it — click to jump back into the full conversation.
- Move it to a project — a dropdown on each row files it into any project (or back to Unassigned).
- Delete it — after a confirmation.
New chat (top right) starts fresh. If you have a project selected, the new chat is created inside it and inherits the project's context.
Good asking habits
A little context goes a long way. Compare:
"deals?"
with:
"Which open deals are due to close in the next 3 weeks? Owner and value, soonest first."
Both will get an answer, but the second gets the right answer first time. Brief EnClaw like a capable colleague: what you want, any constraints, and what "done" looks like.
Good to know
- If Chat says no model is available, your organisation hasn't finished setting up an AI provider yet — that's one for your admin, not you.
- Chat is for direct conversations with the model. Work you hand to agents — and everything they produce — shows up under My Sessions.
- You don't have to be at your desk. You can chat with EnClaw agents from Slack, Microsoft Teams and Telegram too — see Chatting from Slack, Teams & Telegram.
